TF Sport are celebrating 2016 British GT championship success, after clinching both drivers’ and team championship titles at the season’s finale at Donington with their Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3.

The result ensures that Aston Martin Racing factory driver Jonny Adam has successfully defended his British GT champion status, while the V12 Vantage GT3 brings title success for the third time in four seasons to Aston Martin Racing customer programmes.

With the championship battle taken down to the final round at Donington Park,  Adam and teammate Derek Johnston secured second in the two-hour race to cement their place at the top of the table with 163 points each and TF Sport scoring 272.5 overall in the team's standings.

Ahead of the weekend, a win was essential to guarantee the result and a pole position on Saturday provided the perfect start. While leading the opening stint, misfortune for TF Sports’ competitors allowed both drivers to relax and focus on keeping their next closest rival - the Bentley of Team Parker Racing - behind.

The result ensures that Adam is the only driver in British GT history to retain their GT3 title, while Aston Martin’s V12 Vantage GT3 holds a two-year unbeaten run in the series.

Adam said, “What an amazing season British GT has been. Tom Ferrier and TF Sport are a great customer team to Aston Martin Racing and this year they delivered a stunning Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3. Derek drove so well throughout and thoroughly deserves the success for the effort he’s put in. It's a great feeling to win this series back-to-back with two great customer teams and drivers in Derek Johnston and Andrew Howard. Yet again the Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 is the car to beat and was a joy to drive all season long. Thanks to everyone involved in this success".

Speaking of the result, Aston Martin Racing Managing Director John Gaw said, “It's great to win this title for the 3rd time and the 2nd year in a row.

Praise must go to both Tom Ferrier and his team for winning the team’s championship along with both Derek and Jonny, who altogether with the V12 Vantage GT3 have gelled so well consistently across the year.

A team effort is what is required to win and there will be many people deservedly celebrating after this weekend”.
