2022 NBA Draft: Start time, draft order, more
Italian-American basketball player (born 2002)
The NBA is already back! Did you miss it? The 2022 NBA draft is 8 p.m. ET Thursday, a week after the Golden State Warriors defeated the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals. The win gave
the Warriors their fourth championship in the last eight seasons, removing all doubt as to whether they deserve to be called a dynasty.
How was that dynasty built? The NBA draft, of course. Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and Klay Thompson all joined the Warriors via the draft.
For every other team, the opportunity to build their own dynasty starts tonight. Who will the Orlando Magic select to lead their franchise to the promised land?
We're excited to find that out with you. Consider this live tracker your one-stop shop for all things related to the 2022 NBA draft. Below, we'll provide analysis and commentary on the event in real time.
Want to know how a player fits on their new roster, or who showed up to the draft with the best outfit? We've got you covered.

Will Houston trade up to take Paolo Banchero?
The Vegas line shifted drastically earlier this week in anticipation Paolo Banchero could go No. 1. With no clear-cut overall pick, there are a lot of rumors swirling around as to
what the Orlando Magic will do when they're on the clock later Thursday.
Jabari Smith still makes the most sense for the Magic at No. 1, and if the Houston Rockets worry that Oklahoma City Thunder will take Banchero at No. 2, they'll need to make a move up.
The Rockets aren't showing their cards at all, but Banchero spoke highly of his time in Houston for his workout during his media availability and said he could see himself fitting in nicely alongside Jalen Green and Kevin Porter Jr.
NBA draft updates: Sixers shopping first round pick, ESPN has Philly taking Duke forward
NEW YORK, June 22, 2022 – NBA Draft 2022 presented by State Farm® will take place on Thursday, June 23 at 8 p.m. ET at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y. ABC will televise the first
round of the NBA Draft for the second straight year, and ESPN will air both rounds. The NBA Draft will reach fans live in 214 countries and territories in 28 languages on their
televisions, computers, mobile devices and tablets.
Here is a by-the-numbers look at this year’s NBA Draft:
The Sixers have the No. 23 pick in the first round of the 2022 NBA draft, which begins at 8 p.m.
With the NBA draft on Thursday and the free-agent signing period shortly thereafter, the Sixers’ offseason is about to kick into high gear. Daryl Morey has a number of directions he can turn, depending on the answer to a handful of pressing questions.
If James Harden signs a short-term extension that lowers his cap number closer to $30 million, the Sixers could have an opportunity to do much of their shopping in free agency if they can use the No. 23 pick to shed Tobias Harris’ contract without taking back much salary in return. Otherwise, the offseason seems likely to consist of a series of incremental upgrades leveraging the modest assets at Morey’s disposal, chiefly the No. 23 pick and two years of team control of Matisse Thybulle.
Here are three hypothetical trades that could make some sense for the Sixers and are not completely detached from reality:
Danny Green, Matisse Thybulle, and Shake Milton to Detroit for Kelly Olynyk and Cory Joseph
Tobias Harris and Shake Milton to Cleveland for Kevin Love and Caris LeVert or Lauri Markkanen
Danny Green, Matisse Thybulle, and Jaden Springer to Houston for Eric Gordon

2022 NBA Draft: Debating case for Chet Holmgren, Paolo Banchero, Jabari Smith or Jaden Ivey as No. 1 prospect
We'll find out on Thursday night who the Orlando Magic value as the No. 1 pick as they select first overall for the first time since 2004 -- but there's far from a consensus view at
the top of this draft among NBA front offices. And ditto for our team of experts. In our final top 100 rankings comprised of a consensus taken from rankings by CBS Sports experts Gary
Parrish, Matt Norlander, David Cobb and myself, along with Adam Finkelstein and Travis Branham of 247Sports, there were four different players who earned votes at No. 1.
So who is the No. 1 prospect in the 2022 NBA Draft?

The 2022 NBA draft has nearly arrived, and the speculation is only beginning. There will be plenty of storylines at issue from the outset of Thursday's event at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn (8 p.m. ET, ESPN, ABC and ESPN App) -- will the Big Three of Auburn's Jabari Smith, Gonzaga's Chet Holmgren and Duke's Paolo Banchero go in the order expected, and to the teams expected? If it's Smith to the Orlando Magic at No. 1, Holmgren to the Oklahoma City Thunder at No. 2 and Banchero to the Houston Rockets at No. 3, what might that mean for the Sacramento Kings at No. 4? Will the Kings, who must consider the likelihood of their pick signing with the struggling franchise, strike a draft-night deal? If they do, how will the rest of the night's dominoes fall?

The NBA draft smoke has felt thick this week. More teams than not have been mentioned in trade discussions.
There is even disagreement about how the top three will play out. "Expect the unexpected" is a thought shared by many.
