Rallye Du Maroc 2024 – Al Attiyah makes it three in a row
- Nasser Al Attiyah (The Dacia Sandriders) achieved his third FIA W2RC title ahead of Yazeed Al Rajhi (Overdrive Racing) and Lucas Moraes (Toyota Gazoo Racing).
- The 2024 FIA-FIM World Rally-Raid Championship is a wrap. The Dakar will get the 2025 W2RC season under way from 3 to 17 January.
Nasser Al Attiyah has achieved a hat-trick of consecutive W2RC titles, securing his third FIA World Rally-Raid Championship crown in style whilst winning his seventh Rallye du Maroc today.
After a dominant year competing in the Prodrive Hunter as ‘Nasser Racing by Prodrive’, Al Attiyah and the new Dacia Sandriders team produced an outstanding performance in their maiden rally-raid event in Morocco, raising the stakes for a gripping 2025 season.
Nasser Al Attiyah:
It’s great to win the Rallye du Maroc seven times and also the World Championship for a third time. And of course, I’m very happy to be winning for Dacia for the first time. It hasn’t been an easy year for us after we withdrew from the Dakar. Now, we’re looking forward to the 2025 Dakar.
Sébastien Loeb:
Overall, it has been a good rally. We finished first and second with Dacia, which shows that the car is really competitive and reliable. We broke a wishbone and a steering arm and it’s important to do a rally like this to see what breaks and what we need to improve for the Dakar. Of course, there are a few things we need to sort out, but overall, we’re very happy with the car. The battle is very close between the different cars, so I think it will be interesting for the Dakar.
Stage 1 of the Rallye du Maroc, the 100th day of racing in the history of the W2RC, went to the two champions: Ross Branch in the FIM motorbike race and Nasser Al Attiyah in the FIA car competition. The Qatari has been the most prolific stage hunter ever to compete in the car classes, with 40 wins to his name.
The 2025 W2RC season commences with the Dakar in Saudi Arabia from 3 to 17, January 2025.
