Prodrive has been a world leader in the motorsport industry for more than three decades. Through this, it has developed an unrivalled skill in rapid whole vehicle and prototype development. This motorsport approach ensures that Prodrive can take its clients' programmes to the proof of concept prototype phase, far more rapidly than would be achievable within a larger organisation. Prodrive has the facilities in-house to manufacture a product prototype which includes extensive machining and fabrication to electrical system production and vehicle build.
We have some of the most skilled fabricators in the UK who are able to create prototype components from drawings or by reverse engineering them using their inherent creative eye. Indeed our fabrication is so well regarded that we create a number of the components for leading Formula One teams.
We have the latest five axis mills and lathes allowing us to machine prototype components from solid materials or carry out low volume manufacture.
We can create anything from a small loom to a full wiring harnesses for a car, boat or plane and this can be done to the highest aerospace standards.
We have developed our own range of rapid prototyping ECUs called Microproteus which can be used to control a wide range of functions in prototype vehicles or systems.
We regularly use different types of 3D rapid prototyping to produce one off components to short timescales. These can be as intricate as a hydraulic manifold (shown left) for an America's Cup yacht to full scale engines.
VEHICLE & SYSTEM ASSEMBLY
We can created assembly lines to build limited runs of prototype vehicles or sub-assemblies within our facility. We recently completed the build of 20 Ford Transit hybrid vehicles for year long testing in London.
