Prodrive employs some of the most skilled and creative thinkers for marine engineering.  For more than 30 years, we've been developing some of the most technologically advanced championship winning race and rally cars, and for the last 20 years have been transferring these skills, technology and approach to other industry sectors.

There are many areas where the technology and methodologies we have developed can be directly applied or re-engineered for applications in the marine sector.  We are a technical partner for the Land Rover BAR America's Cup team and were responsible for developing all the control systems for the 46 foot 'flying' catamaran.   We applied our skills in electric and hydraulic control systems to give Ben Ainslie precision control over the position of the boat's hydro-foils and the wing (sail), and used the latest 3D rapid prototyping techniques to produce lightweight hydraulic manifolds.

Our motorsport-based approach means we are able to rapidly take original ideas to the proof-of-concept and prototype stage, enabling our customers to verify their feasibility before helping them to take the programme to production readiness.


We were a technical partner of the Land BAR Rover America's Cup team.  We developed the control systems for the boat's foils which enabled it to fly, as well the control systems for the wing (sail).  We also designed and manufactured the boat's wiring system, which we made to the highest aerospace standards and able to withstand the extreme wet and salty environment.  We continue to work with the UK's America's Cup entry team today.
